The Goteik viaduct also known as Gohteik viaduct is a railway trestle in Nawnghkio, western Shan State, Myanmar. The bridge is between the two towns of Pyin Oo Lwin, the summer capital of the former British colonial administrators of Burma, and Lashio, the principal town of northern Shan State.
Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, welcome by our local tour guide and transfer to your hotel for check-in. In the afternoon, begin your tour with Yangon’s colonial style city center. Visit Sule Pagoda, Bogyoke (Scott) Market and Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha Image. Complete your day with Shwedagon Pagoda, landmark of Myanmar. Overnight at hotel.
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for the flight to Mandalay, the capital of last Myanmar Kingdom. Upon arrival, visit the revered Mahamuni Image, Shwenandaw Monastery, AtumashiMonastery and Kuthodaw Pagoda (known as World’s Biggest Book). In the late afternoon, visit some of the famous handicraft workshops such as wood carving, marble cutting and gold leaf making. And then drive to PyinOoLwin for 2hr 30min. PyinOoLwin is a former British hill station, 67km east of Mandalay. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast, transfer to PyinOoLwin railway station to take your train to Naung Pein Station. On the way, you have to cross the Gokhteik Viaduct which is a magnificent steel bridge spanning a 300 meter deep river gorge. On behalf of the British, the Pennsylvania Steel Company built the Gohteik Bridge over 100 years ago. Upon arrival in Naung Pein, drive back to PyinOoLwin (2hr). Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast, drive back to Mandalay and transfer to the airport for the flight to Yangon. Upon arrival at Yangon, transfer to your hotel and check-in. And then visit Botahtaung Pagoda, Kabaaye Pagoda and AhbayaLarbamuni Buddha image. After strolling through China town, drive back to your hotel and overnight in Yangon.
Free at your own leisure till transfer to Yangon International Airport for your departure flight.
