Putao is famous for the variety of endemic birds and rare orchids, which grow naturally. Many orchid lovers are especially attracted by the so-called “Black Orchid” that can be found in the mountains east and west of Putao. Hkakabo Razi and other snow-capped mountains are visible from Putao. Putao also attracts enthusiasts, hiking to Hkakabo Razi base camp.
Meet at Mandalay Airport to transfer Putao by Flight. Upon arrival at Putao airport we will be meet by Putao Trekking House's representative and transferred to the guest house. Putao lies in a flat valley, jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains etc. Putao town and fort was built during 1914-15 by Commissioner Mr. Hertz along with Fort which later known as Fort Hertz. Later a Missionary was travel from the south via Yunnan by ABM, leaded by Rev J.R Morse and leader of Assembly of God Rev J.C Morrison basing the Rawan and Lisu tribe as initial. Grapefruit, Washington Naval, Vlincha Orange, Ruby Oranges, King Orange and King Mandarin plus Maerica Lime were introduced by missionary from USA. By Father Robert Moss. After a brief fresh up take a walk around Putao for the orientation. Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.
Early in the morning walk to Putao market often busy with local ethnic tribes. Return to hotel, breakfast and depart by jeep through the vast Putao plain on pebbled road to Naungkhine (20 km, one hour). Here we board on local fishermen boat for our downstream journey along Malikha River to so-called Fairy Island through beautiful wilderness surrounding having high reef with lush tropical forests. We return back to the jetty and cross beautiful suspension bridge to visit Machanbaw town and market. Lunch stop and we get on the jeep and travel along the Malikha river bank to Namkham (approx. 30 minute). Namkham, a large Rawan village, situates at the bottom of Namhti mountain range which in rich with biodiversity of flora and fauna. Name after Hkamti Shan name meaning “Golden River” has become the center of cultivation place for the fruits that Father Robert Moss has introduced thus to day famous for its sweet fruits production. Here we explore the village, social and cultural interaction with its friendly people and continue travel by jeep to the site of famous Kanugmulon Pagoda, said to be one of the 84000 pagodas built by Thiri Dhamma Thawka, the great king. We spend some time at this peaceful environment and later drive back to Putao via a suspension bridge across Malikha River. (14 km, one hour). Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.
Breakfast and we visit Putao market and extended walk to Lonsut village, through vast paddy fields, cross over Namhtun creek and walk up to small plateau for a nice over view of Putao valley. Continue walk through beautiful bamboo grove to Hopaing Shan village, beautifully located on the valley of Lonsut. Here we visit Buddhist Monastery and social and culture exchange with friendly Shan people. Our return walk would be along Namhtun creek with optional visit to some of the Lisu villages on the way. Afternoon we walk to Paneling Hkamti Shan village and visit unique Mahamuni Image and other attractions. Continue walk to Putaung Shan village through paddy field and gardens having small Buddhist Shrine with a back drop of Blue Mountains and snow-capped Mountains far in the horizon. Return back to Putao and check in at hotel. Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.
Breakfast and we depart by jeep to Mulashidi Lisu village (13 km, approx. 30 minutes) through well paved road across part of the Putao plain. On the way we visit another market near Putao airport. Mulashidi, meaning in Lisu “the village stands in the thatch field along Mula River” has been over 50 year since it built by the missionary. Walk around this unique village and enjoy scenery from Mulashidi suspension bridge which spends across Mula River. Here we visit the Church and remaining of the home belong to Father Robert Moss, who introduce not only Rawan and Lisu tribe to the region but also fruit like Grapefruit, Washington Naval, Vlincha Orange, Ruby Oranges, King Orange and King Mandarin and American Lime. Lunch stop and we trek uphill to Yekyawdi (2 mile, approx. 1½ hour). We enjoy view of the Mulashidi plain along with snake like Mula river crawling slow in the Malikha River. Later we visit suspension bridge and enjoy views of the Putao plain having backdrop of snow- capped mountain far in the horizon. Afternoon return back to Putao and check in at hotel. Dinner and overnight at Putao Lodge.
Breakfast and perhaps a last minute shopping at Putao market and further visit in and around Putao with suggestion by your guide. Lunch and afternoon transfer to airport for your onward departure flight to conclude this unique experience.
